York City Knights have strengthened their pack options by signing Jordan Baldwinson from Wakefield Trinity on a permanent deal until the end of the season.

The 24 year old forward initially joined the Knights on a one month loan deal and has featured in the last five games – including important victories over Widnes and Batley.

Baldwinson is a product of the Leeds Rhinos academy and has also had spells at New Zealand Warriors, Bradford Bulls, Leigh Centurions, Halifax and nearly 80 games for Featherstone Rovers.

The move for the proven top end Championship quality player has been made possible thanks to the York City Knights Squadbuilder fund.

Knights Head Coach James Ford said: “I’m extremely pleased we’ve managed to sign Jordan for the rest of the season. We’ve not seen Jordan anywhere near his best and helping him fulfil his potential is something that excites me.

“Jordan needs to focus on working hard at his game and I’m confident we’ll see him kick on and significantly strengthen us.

“I’d like to thank the club and squad builder for working hard and supporting us to facilitate the signing of Jordan”

Baldwinson added: “When Fordy approached me after my loan was up and suggested I could sign for York it was a no brainer, Wakefield made it clear to me that they didn’t have any intentions of playing me and I have loved my time on Loan so much I couldn’t grab the pen quick enough.

“The players and fans have accepted me with open arms and I can’t thank them enough!

“My focus is to help York finish as high as possible in the table and personally I want to keep improving and being the best player I can be, I’m sure under fordy I can achieve that!”
