Hall of Famer Watts passes away
York Rugby League Legend and Hall of Fame Inductee Basil ‘Baz’ Watts has died at the age of 93.
Baz made his debut for York on the 8th October 1949 and played 354 games scoring 65 tries for York before retiring in May 1961, He also played 5 games for Great Britain, including the 1954 World Cup Final.
He was part of the great York side of the late 50’s which reached the final of Yorkshire Cup in 1957.
He was a loving husband to Gladys, beloved dad to Margaret and grandad to Louise. Also father-in-law to Peter. The funeral service will take place at York crematorium on Thursday, January 9th at 2.20 pm, and a plate will be provided for donations to the RSPCA and Alzheimers Society.
