York City Knights can confirm that AJ Towse, Myles Harrison and Toby Warren have joined Rochdale Hornets on an initial one-week loan deal.

The trio of Excel graduates, the Knights’ open access player development programme, are all sponsored by York City Knights Foundation’s Main Headline Partner Burflex Scaffolding.

Towse and Harrison both made their competitive debuts for the Knights earlier this season against Wigan Warriors in our Betfred Challenge Cup Round Three tie against the Betfred Super League giants after appearing earlier in the year in our pre-season friendly against Hull FC.

Warren was unavailable for both but impressed earlier this season with a short spell at Leeds Rhinos, featuring in their under-17s team.

The three teenagers head to Betfred League One’s Hornets with the intention of getting gametime under their belts and Knights Head Coach James Ford said that is exactly what they need at this stage of their development.

“The opportunity for all three to go compete against League One opposition is the next stage in all three of their developments,” Ford explained.

“All three have shown a fantastic attitude in training, they’ve all developed at a really pleasing rate and we do see plenty of potential in them, but unfortunately we don’t have an academy to play them in so we need to find them opportunities to play.

“We’re really grateful to be able to assist Rochdale who are in a bit of a tough situation at the minute with player availability so it works for them and it absolutely works for York as well as the three young lads and their development.”

We wish all three the very best with their time at Rochdale and all at the club will be keeping an eye on their progress.
