Huge crowd predicted as David Longhurst Stand is OPEN!
York City Knights are delighted to announce that due to the large crowds predicted at the Betfred League 1 title decider against Whitehaven this Sunday, the David Longhurst stand will be opened at Bootham Crescent for the third time this season!
On previous occasions this season, the famous terraced stand behind the posts has generated a fantastic atmosphere during games against Bradford Bulls in February and Catalans Dragons in April, and the Knights will look to be backed once more by a loud and passionate following.
Chairman Jon Flatman said: “This is the third time that the Knights have had to open the David Longhurst stand at Bootham Crescent and it just goes to show that this fantastic game has really captured the imagination of both the fantastic Knights and Whitehaven fans alike, as well as plenty of rugby league fans in general.
“I would like to thank the brilliant fans of both York City Knights and Whitehaven who will make the trip on Sunday, and York City FC for their assistance.
“Bootham Crescent will be bouncing!”
Turnstiles will open at 1.30pm, providing plenty of time for fans to get into their seats which are unreserved. Seats are available on a ‘First come best served’ basis so arrive early to secure your favourite vantage point. Popular York band BrassaNova will be on hand to provide plenty of pre-match fun and entertainment.
The Knights take on play-off chasing Whitehaven at Bootham Crescent this Sunday (23rd September, 3pm) in the final round of the regular season. Victory will see York crowned as Betfred League 1 Champions and seal automatic promotion to the 2019 Championship…
