York City Knights are pleased to confirm that, in association with Atropa Pharmacy, hooker Will Jubb has signed new terms with the club, inking a one-year deal that will see him with the Knights in 2022.

25-year-old Jubb, sponsored by Clinical Technologies, has been a near ever-present for the club ever since signing ahead of the 2018/19 season, missing just two matches this season. Extending his stay with the Knights into a fourth year, Jubb has so far made 91 appearances for the Knights and has proven himself to be a key player for James Ford’s team.

Indeed, Jubb captained the Knights in our first-ever match at the LNER Community Stadium when he led the team out against Hull FC in our pre-season in March.

Jubb previously captained the City of Hull Academy side and made a try-scoring debut for Hull KR in the 2016 Super League Qualifiers before playing for the Knights on dual-registration in 2017 before signing permanently for the 2018 campaign.

2021 has seen Jubb not only thrive on the pitch but also off it, becoming an ambassador for local charity The Wilberforce Trust’s Club Wilber, a role which has enabled Will to inspire and become an ever-growing role model for young people.

On securing Jubb’s services for 2022, Head Coach Ford said: “I’m really pleased to retain Will. He’s been very consistent throughout this season, both in attack and defence, and he brings a lot to the group off the field in terms of how he drives and upholds standards in training.

“I’m pleased that he’s still really keen to add things to his game and I’m looking forward to working with him more over the coming season.

Jubb himself added: “I absolutely love it at York and there’s nowhere else I’d rather be. This club means a lot to me now so I’m really happy to be staying.

“2021 has been a challenging year with things on the pitch and completing my PhD, so I’m really looking forward to getting some sense of normality back next year and focussing on a great 2022.”

Jubb joins Matty Marsh and new recruit Joe Brown in signing on for the Knights next season, alongside teenage trio Myles Harrison, AJ Towse and Toby Warren. 2022 Season Memberships go on sale on Friday at 10am, with Season Tickets, Premier Club Season Tickets, Vice Presidents and Platinum Memberships all available.
