Kershaw signs with Knights Ladies
York City Knights are pleased to announce the signing of Emma Kershaw.
The 17-year-old joins the Knights following a playing spell with Wakefield Trinity Ladies.
Kershaw is a very promising young talent who is looking to test herself at the highest level of the Betfred Women’s Super League.
Upon joining the club, Kershaw said: “I’ve been with Wakefield since I was 15 and it was a really hard move because of the community I built with those people. But I saw the chance to move and I thought about the new opportunities and new challenges I could face.
“I’m wanting to show people what I can do on the field. I’ve been doing rugby since I’ve been about ten and I know this is what I want to do. I want to eventually play for England and I think this club will help me get there.”
Kershaw also underlined York’s commitment to women’s rugby league saying: “I’m shocked by it, it’s amazing. I showed up and I was told how they wanted people who were committed to the game, not willing to slack off just for fun. It’s all about taking it seriously, which is what I want to do.”
Kershaw is not the only rugby league star in her household. Older brother Lee Kershaw currently plays for Wakefield Trinity in the Super League.
However, rugby isn’t the only string to Emma’s bow. The youngster is also the reigning Miss West Yorkshire having won the latest pageant.
Kershaw is in contention to start against St. Helens this weekend as the Women’s Super League returns after the summer break.
Kershaw will be sponsored by PMD Recruitment.
The match will take place at the Totally Wicked Stadium on Sunday 22nd of August, 2pm kick off.
You can watch the action unfold for free on Twitch.
It will be our first match since the Betfred Women’s Super League was split into two divisions of five teams.
