Knights gear up for special afternoon

York City Knights Chairman Jon Flatman is looking forward to a special occasion at Bootham Crescent this Saturday afternoon, as the Knights prepare to face Featherstone Rovers in the Betfred Championship play-offs semi final eliminator – the last Championship game to take place in the UK in 2019.

For the first time since York took on Leeds in the 1989 Challenge Cup and in an unprecedented move for the Knights, all four stands at Bootham Crescent will be open for the game.

Featherstone Rovers are expected to bring a huge contingent of supporters – to date already selling over 500 tickets – and will contribute to a fantastic atmosphere in anticipated 20+ degree sunshine in the Minster city.

“It’s going to be a wonderful occasion” Flatman said: “For one club the season ends on Saturday afternoon, and as the last two remaining UK sides in the competition, both teams I’m sure will put on a fantastic show of high quality knock out rugby league.

“Pre-sales have been very healthy in both club’s box offices this week, allowing us to take the unprecedented step to open all four stands at Bootham Crescent to allow as many people as possible to come and say ‘I was there’ at the last Championship game of 2019 in this country.

“There is nothing better than that live game experience

“I would like to thank both sets of fans in advance for creating a well behaved yet unforgettable atmosphere for two teams that truly deserve all they have achieved this year.”

Featherstone fans will enter the stadium via the away turnstiles on Grosvenor Road, with home fans and neutrals either seated in the main stand or standing in the David Longhurst Stand. Turnstiles will open at 1.30pm and all fans will be able to purchase tickets on the day of the game. Fans are reminded that due to the split gate proceeds, season tickets and memberships are not valid for this game.

Tickets are available online now at HERE for Knights fans, while the Featherstone Rovers shop will be open until 6pm tomorrow (Friday 20th September) for fans wishing to purchase advance tickets. There will be no price increase for fans wishing to pay on the gate.
