Knights join York Pride celebrations this Saturday!
The hugely popular York Pride parade returns to the city this Saturday 8th June, and starts outside the Minster at approximately 11:45am and arrives at the Knavesmire (Tadcaster Road End) at approx 1:00pm, for an afternoon of celebration, headlined by Gareth Gates. Norris the Knight and some Knights stars will also be in attendance.
Third-placed Knights then have a huge Betfred Championship game at home to second-placed Toulouse Olympique at 3pm, and welcome everyone from the LGBT+ community to carry on their celebrations at Bootham Crescent. As part of the day, organisers of York Pride will be our guests at the match, and if possible, members of the LGBT+ community will be flag bearers – both Knights and rainbow – before kick off (at 3pm).
On the pitch, Knights players will be sporting Rainbow Laces in their boots, as part of Stonewall’s popular growing campaign for equality and inclusivity in sport.
Greg Stephenson, Chair of York Pride said: “We are pleased to continue building our relationships across the City, particularly with York City Knights. Our 2013 theme was around being “out in sport” and since then progress has been made locally and nationally but still more can be done.
“It’s great for us to extend our Pride celebrations at Bootham Crescent after the parade and we look forward to cheering the Knights on with Pride!”
Knights owner Jon Flatman added: “York Pride is fantastic event with an unrivalled atmosphere and attendees who travel from all over to enjoy our fantastic city. For our club to work with Pride to add to the offer in York is a huge accolade and one we continue to build upon each year.
“We look forward to contributing to the Saturday’s parade and to hosting our fabulous friends in the afternoon. A fantastic day awaits!”
