Knights land Rawsthorne on loan

York City Knights have strengthened their back line options by signing 21 year old outside back Nick Rawsthorne from Hull FC – initially on a one month loan deal.

Nick was a former England rugby union youth international before switching codes and joining Halifax. After three loan appearances at South Wales, he broke into the Halifax first team during the ‘Middle 8s’ – catching the eye of Super League with four tries in seven games.

After signing a one year deal for Hull FC in 2017, he has yet to feature in Super League but impressed in pre-season and more recently in the Airlie Birds’ reserve grade, including their win over Warrington on last weekend.

Hull FC boss Lee Radford said: “We’re happy to let Nick get out and gain some first grade opportunities. Due to our reserve fixtures not being week to week over the next month getting some game time into him is exactly what he needs.

“Having performed really well in the first two reserve team fixtures I’m sure York will also see the benefits of bringing Nick in.

“Having a good relationship with Fordy I’m confident he’ll be going into a well drilled environment for their upcoming fixtures.”

York City Knights head coach James Ford said: “Nick is a really talented player. He has all the tools needed to succeed at the top level at this game so we’re pleased to have him on board for now. He will add quality and competition to an already good back line at York.”

Nick will be set to make his debut at Oxford on Sunday 9th April. To book your place on the official supporters bus ring York Pullman 01904 622992 and speak to Anne who will deal with your booking. The office is open 8.30am-5pm weekdays.

The coach will pick up from Bootham at 8.15am and Acomb at 8.30am. It is just £25 to reserve your seat, and each seat booked will also enter a raffle to win a signed Knights ball!
