Knights and Rovers gear up for #RetroRound!

Published: 14 August, 2019 - 5:00 pm

As part of the celebrations for the final league game at Bootham Crescent this season, the Knights are taking a trip down memory lane this Sunday with a very special ‘Retro Round’ of Betfred Championship action against fellow potential play-off contenders Featherstone Rovers.

We are hoping to see a big, noisy crowd full of colourful retro-ness when the game gets underway at 3pm, and we will have two special half-time prizes for a fan in the best old school shirt – both for York fans and Featherstone fans!

Also, we would like to invite all former players of both teams to come and enjoy what should be a thrilling match on the field and take the chance to catch up with their old team mates.

If you are a former player and would like to come to the game, all you have to do is go to the club shop before the game on Sunday to claim your free ticket.

Knights Chairman Jon Flatman said: “It is always a great occasion whenever York play Featherstone, as we have already seen at the LD Nutrition Stadium and at the Summer Bash in Blackpool earlier this season.

“The fans from both clubs really get behind their teams in good nature and hopefully we will see more of the same in the Bootham Crescent sunshine this Sunday, resplendent in their shirts from bygone eras as we celebrate the #RetroRound.”

Featherstone Rovers Chief Executive Officer Davide Longo added: “Both Featherstone and York are performing at the top of the Betfred Championship this season and we’ve already witnessed two extremely entertaining games between the two teams in 2019.

“I’m sure fans of both teams will create an amazing atmosphere with a number of travelling Rovers fans expected to get behind our team. I hope that our fans continue to respect all the players, officials and opposition fans like they have been since the launch of our #LetsTackleThisTogether campaign.”
