Maskill joins Knights on loan
York City Knights have secured the services of former Wakefield Trinity hooker Danny Maskill, who has joined the club on a one month loan from Featherstone Rovers.
The 22-year-old has recently returned to the UK following a three-year spell in Australia, where he represented Leeton Galloping Greens and Queanbeyan Kangaroos.
The son of former Castleford, Leeds, Featherstone and Doncaster legend Colin Maskill is hoping to make a good impression with game time at the Knights. He said: “I’m really looking forward to my time at York. Learning the trade from a hooker like Andy Ellis will be a fantastic opportunity for me.
“Hopefully I can get out there and make an impression. I have a big month ahead of me and have to take my chances, as and when they come.”
Knights head coach James Ford said: “Danny is hard working young man. He’s a tough and uncompromising player which are excellent traits for a hooker to have.
He’s a good trainer and very keen to establish himself at this level and beyond. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Danny will be in contention for the Knights squad that travels to Coventry this Saturday, 12th May for our rearranged Betfred League 1 round two game at Butts Park Arena.
