MATCH PREVIEW | Knights vs Featherstone Rovers

Published: 7 May, 2021 - 8:11 pm

The Knights return to the LNER Community Stadium after two consecutive away wins in the Betfred Championship and, on Sunday, play host to the team currently sitting top of the table in Featherstone Rovers.

Those two victories over Swinton Lions (64-16) and Dewsbury Rams (30-20) saw James Ford able to welcome back several players from injury lay-offs and does so again this week with forward Joe Porter returning to the preliminary squad.

With almost a hundred points scored across the two matches, the Knights will play host to Rovers with a growing confidence in their attacking play. Matty Marsh, usually a full-back during his time with the Knights, has starred in the halves in the last fortnight with six tries scored. Whether Marsh remains in the halves or not remains to be seen with Connor Wynne – the man who has started there in our two recent victories – having returned to parent club Hull FC.

Chris Clarkson returned to our matchday squad last week against Dewsbury Rams and, after a Man of the Match performance, will be looking to lead the team to victory over a team who defeated the Knights three times during 2019, including in the Betfred Championship Play-Offs.

Featherstone have started this campaign with a flawless record in the league, recording three victories over Batley Bulldogs, Swinton Lions and Whitehaven. Like the Knights, Rovers have a squad sprinkled with former Super League talent with the likes of Craig Hall, Brett Ferres and Dale Ferguson being added to by Junior Moors, Craig Kopczak and Kris Welham ahead of 2021.
