York City Knights have strengthened their back line options by signing 23 year old outside back Nick Rawsthorne from Toronto Wolfpack – initially on a one month loan deal.

Nick was a former England rugby union youth international before switching codes and joining Halifax. After three loan appearances at South Wales, he broke into the Halifax first team during the 2016 ‘Middle 8s’ – catching the eye of Super League with four tries in seven games and ultimately earning a contract at Hull FC.

Rawsthorne first joined York City Knights on loan in March 2017 and impressed when scoring eight tries and 10 goals in five appearances. A further loan stint with Doncaster and three Super League appearances earned a move to Toronto ahead of the 2018 season. He was a try scorer in the Wolfpack’s 48-12 Betfred Championship victory over Halifax last week.

Knights Head Coach James Ford said: “I’m delighted to bring Nick back to the club and I’m confident he’ll be a positive asset to the squad. Nick has the potential to kick on and develop into a fine player if he works hard enough at his game.

“He’s got plenty of strike and adds versatility as he can play across the backline.”

Due to Toronto not participating in the 2019 Coral Challenge Cup, Nick is in contention for the Knights squad this Sunday at Barrow Raiders. Call the office now on 01904 876527 to book your place on the supporter’s bus for just £15.
