Robbo extends Knights stay
York City Knights are delighted to announce that star forward Adam Robinson has signed a one year extension to stay at Bootham Crescent until the end of 2018.
The big hitting former Halifax prop celebrated his 30th birthday on Saturday and has been one of the new look Knights’ top performers throughout the start of the 2017 season.
Commenting on his new deal, Robinson said: “I’m excited to sign a further year at York City Knights, the club and fans have shown me nothing but support since I first came to the city. I’ve enjoyed every minute so far and I want those times to continue.
“The club has real passion and intent to be successful and I want to be part of that journey. The facilities are as good as any I’ve seen and the playing group is getting better each week, and securing my future with York means I can focus on the playing side.
“Continuing to help the young players in our group grow in training and lead from the front on a match day is something that has enabled me to get my passion back for rugby league, and I would like to thank Jon and Fordy for their support and getting this deal over the line. Hopefully I can repay that faith on the field!”
Adam picked up the York Press player of the month award for March, and Head coach James Ford said of Robinson: “I’m delighted that Robbo is staying with us. It’s great to see him back playing to a good level, and it’s great to see him happy and also taking up plenty of leadership responsibilities.
“He’s a senior player in the group and has been playing like a senior player.
“Also in practice he’s helping the younger boys in their development. I can’t speak highly enough of what he’s brought to the group.
“I do feel there’s another level in him and it’s up to me and Adam to get that out of him. When we do, we’ll have one heck of a player.”
Robbo is in line to make his return from a hamstring injury against Doncaster at Bootham Crescent on Good Friday. To download a special voucher to see this game for just £7, visit www.minsterfm.com now. As ever, kids under 16 can see this game for FREE!
