WIN a two night break at the Hilton Hotel, York with our Virtual Matchday!

As we approach our Betfred Challenge Cup Round Three match against Wigan Warriors on Friday 9th April (7:45pm KO), we will be running a virtual matchday as a fundraiser for the York City Knights Foundation – which will help grow the great game of rugby league while also giving you the chance to win a weekend in York!

By purchasing virtual match tickets, drinks and pies for £5 and £3 respectively, you will be supporting us in continuing the great work our Foundation does in our community.

The match, which will be streamed LIVE and FREE on The Sportsman’s website, Youtube and Facebook pages, sees James Ford’s ambitious team take on the nineteen-time winners of the Challenge Cup and last season’s beaten Super League Grand Finalists.

We understand that many fans are frustrated at not being able to attend the match at our new home or to visit our city so, as part of the virtual matchday, we are also pleased to be able to offer one contributor a two-night break in York at the Hilton Hotel for two over a Knights home match weekend.

The lucky contributor will also receive a pair of Knights match tickets. – giving you a great opportunity to see exactly what our great city has to offer as well as taking in a live rugby league match at our brand new LNER Community Stadium home!

The four-star Hilton Hotel is situated close to Clifford’s Tower and is a matter of minutes from the City Centre. With lively bars and restaurants close by, the hotel is less than five minutes from the York Castle Museum and Jorvik Viking Center with other museums and centres throughout the city.

The hotel also boasts a gin bar, Rose within the Walls, specialising in local gin and tonic pairing. Overlooking our historic city, the more relaxed Tower’s Restaurant serves British classics and boasts an extensive wine menu.

Usually, the club would not only benefit from facing world class opposition but also the financial boost of a full sell out event, such would be the interest from the fans of both teams and the wider rugby league community.

We are hoping that this concept will raise funds for our Foundation who work across York and the North Yorkshire region. Offering a range of activities to all, including our Excel Development Program, Memories Sessions and FitKnight – as well as running our Ladies and LDRL teams – our Foundation is something we are very proud of and enables us to work closely with all demographics within our community.

Funds raised from this virtual matchday will be focussed towards developing our Excel Development Program. The program is currently available to male and female players from the ages of 12-16 will the aim of developing players across York and the wider North Yorkshire region.

The Knights’ General Manager Neil Gulliver said: “This is one of the most exciting Challenge Cup ties the club has had in recent years against one of the oldest and most distinguished clubs in the sport.

“We are hoping that this match, by opening our virtual matchday to a wider audience, will enable us to continue our work of spreading the word of rugby league and continue our wider community work across York and North Yorkshire with the York City Knights Foundation.”

You can support our virtual matchday via our online club shop, where every penny will go to the continued work of the York City Knights Foundation.
