York City Knights Ladies ran in ten tries as they maintained their 100% league record with a comfortable 48-8 win over Whitley Bay Ladies.

Nat Carr scored a hat-trick, while Kay Rollinson, Lauren Powell, Katie Langan, Hayley Worthington, Ashleigh Hyde, Alisha Clayton and Becky Gray scored one try apiece to make it seven wins from seven.

The hosts twice went close early on, with only handling errors keeping the score line blank.

However, after sustained pressure on the Whitley Bay line, Rollinson found a gap in the visitors defence to put York ahead.

An excellent break by Langan then sent Carr over for her first try of the afternoon, and just after the half-hour mark the winger touched down again to give York a deserved 16-0 lead.

Whitley Bay hit back to reduce York’s lead to 12 points, before Powell powered over just before half-time to restore the 16-point buffer.

The hosts continued their clinical display at the start of the second half. Excellent footwork from Langan enabled her to evade several attempted tackles and score; before Carr completed her hat-trick in the very next set.

York moved further clear through Worthington’s try, extending their lead to 34-4 before Whitley Bay scored their second of the match.

Hyde then crossed on the left edge, before Clayton forced her way over on the opposite flank to take York’s tally over 40.

York were reduced to 12 players for the final 10 minutes after Powell picked up a knee injury, but there was still time for Gray to add another try and complete the rout for the home side.
