York RL family rally round for Beth & Leo

Published: 6 September, 2018 - 12:00 pm

York City Knights would like to spread the word about a very special charity masters game that is being held next Sunday at York Acorn in aid of two incredibly brave young people.

Both Beth, 23 and Leo, 11 have a terminal illness called juvenile Huntingtons disease. This makes life massively challenging for them both physically as well as emotionally.

Beth & Leo’s family have come together with York Acorn and the rest of the York Rugby League community to organise a Masters rugby match and a fun day to raise as much money and awareness as they can.

Former York RL ‘legends’ such as Darren Callaghan, Mark Cain, Lea Tichener, Chris Hopcut, Andy Gargan and Mike Embleton will all be attempting to roll back the years when they take to the field… Darren Crake and his three brothers John, Mark & Stuart – who are Uncles to Beth & Leo – will also all be playing, making it a real family affair!

Anything they can raise to help Mum Claire, partner Rob and brother Bradley spend cherished memories with Beth and Leo will a huge support to such a special family.

The fun day begins at 12:30 at the Acorn Rugby club with the match kicking off at 13:30.

On the day there will be a raffle with some fantastic prizes, a tombola and an auction. For the kids there is a bouncy castle and stalls to keep them entertained. Food will be available in the form of a BBQ.

Please come down and support us and have fun with your family and friends – and of course any donations for raffle and tombola prizes are greatly welcomed and appreciated.
