Our weekly Thursday evening girls Rugby sessions continue with YCK Ladies player Alisha Clayton as head coach. The community sessions act to support the development of girls aged 11 to 16. Up until 11 girls can play with boys within the community game. The sessions run alongside our Sky Try school’s curriculum delivery with aspirations of fielding our own girl’s community sides.
Within the past few years, we have witnessed a growth in schools with participation on the increase. We have delivered various teacher support programmes with the help of the Rugby Football League and Sports Lecturers at York St John Haxby Road in order to this facilitate this growth. Our next round of Secondary school festivals are scheduled to take place next week, with the winners of each age group going through to represent North Yorkshire in the regional stage of the competition.
With the Rugby League World Cup 2021 World class sport is coming to York; this is not only a great opportunity to showcase York to the world, but also inspire future generations of players and maximise the legacy of event. York will host both Women’s World Cup semi-finals and a number of group stage matches.
The Girls Sessions we offer are open to all, free of charge and with our aim to have fun and improve all players regardless of ability or experience.
