York City Knights Ladies sealed their spot in the semi-finals of this year’s Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup with an emphatic victory over Oulton Raidettes at the LNER Community Stadium. The scoring started early on after an error from the kick off saw Oulton having to drop-out. From the resulting set, Tara Jane Stanley went over for her first try at the LNER before, five minutes later, loose-forward Rhiannion Marshall found her way through a gap. York City Knights Ladies continued their journey towards back-to-back Challenge Cup final appearances with a 4-76 win over the Bradford Bulls at Odsal. The Knights ran in eight tries in the opening forty minutes with Olivia Wood and Kelsey Gentles both scoring hat tricks as the Knights came away victorious. The loss ends a historic season for York which saw the team reach the Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup final and the Women’s Super League semi-final. York City Knights Ladies ended their two-match losing run following a 20-6 victory away against Wigan Warriors. Despite their slow start, York were able to come from behind and seal a hugely important win in the battle for the Women’s Super League semi-finals. In what was their first outing since June’s Challenge Cup final, the Knights ran in 11 tries at the Asics Stadium in Warrington.
