Saturday 14th August - Betfred Championship

Published: 14 August, 2021 - 11:50 pm

Featherstone Rovers 44 (18) – (14) 14 York City Knights A Ben Jones-Bishop brace and a strong first half wasn’t enough to see the Knights build on back-to-back victories in the Betfred Championship as hosts Featherstone Rovers scored twenty-six unanswered second half points to defeat James Ford’s men. The Knights were the fastest out of the blocks with Ben Jones-Bishop, switching flanks from last weekend’s victory over Swinton, scoring an early brace. Featherstone Rovers 41 (22)-(10) 34 York City Knights After everything that was thrown at the Knights, the match and the sport itself in the build up to Saturday’s AB Sundecks 1895 Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, you could perhaps have been forgiven for thinking that the game may fail to live up to the billing of being played on the biggest sporting stage on one of the most prestigious dates in the British sporting calendar. That, however, couldn’t be further from the truth as, despite falling to a 41-34 defeat to Featherstone Rovers, the team did the occasion, the club... ...Read The Article

Strong second-half not enough as Knights fall to defeat

Sunday 4th July - Betfred Championship

Published: 4 July, 2021 - 6:59 pm

An exhilarating second-half fightback from York City Knights wasn’t quite enough to get the two Betfred Championship points this afternoon as we fell to a 26-28 defeat to Newcastle Thunder at the LNER Community Stadium. After a disappointing performance last weekend against Whitehaven, the Knights turned in a much-improved showing to come back from 2-22 down early in the second half but Alex Clegg’s late try for the visitors was to prove just too much to come back from. The Knights are doing it tough at the moment with injuries, none more so than in the half-backs and this afternoon... ...Read The Article
