Knights fall to Chisholm inspired Fev: Friday 19th April - Betfred Championship
York City Knights were dealt a harsh lesson at the LD Nutrition stadium as Australian half back Dane Chisholm inspired Featherstone Rovers to a 42-12 victory on Good Friday.
Matty Marsh, Liam Salter, Robinson, Jack Teanby, Graeme Horne, Scott and Spears were all back after missing the Challenge Cup defeat at Widnes, and hooker Kriss Brining passed his late fitness test.
Featherstone got off to a flying start with tries from dual registered Leeds Rhinos pair Alex Sutcliffe and Josh Walters in the opening quarter, plus a Chisholm penalty gave the Rovers a 14-0 lead.
York weathered the early storm however and managed to get back into the game when captain Tim Spears charged over on his old stomping ground, carrying three defenders with him. Connor Robinson added the extras to cut the deficit to 14-6 at the break.
It was all one way traffic in the second half as five tries in 18 minutes killed the game off as Featherstone ran riot down the Post Office Road hill. A second from Sutcliffe was followed by former Knight John Davies crashing over, before a quickfire double from Josh Hardcastle. Debutant Chisholm rounded off the home scoring with a 50 metre interception try, as well as a further penalty goal on the hooter.
York grabbed a late consolation five minutes from time when Robinson dummied and broke through the line before sending Sam Scott racing home.
The Knights tough run continues with a quick turnaround as they prepare to face Widnes Vikings on Easter Monday.
