York City Knights produced a dominant defensive display on another hot afternoon at Bootham Crescent to keep North Wales Crusaders scoreless and notch up their ninth consecutive Betfred League 1 victory. With the business end of the season fast approaching Head Coach James Ford once again opted to rotate his pack to keep his big men as fresh as possible – Adam Robinson and Sam Scott returning in place of Dan Hawksworth and Graeme Horne, who took up sideline duties as Ford started his two game ban. York City Knights allayed any fears of a post-Bradford comedown by producing a professional performance at Bootham Crescent today, running in 13 tries past a spirited Coventry Bears in blustery conditions. Opting to keep things fresh after last week’s epic battle at Odsal, James Ford handed three players their York debuts with new signings Joel Edwards and Josh Jordan-Roberts starting in the back row, and local lad Matt Chilton starting at full back. James Ford celebrated his 100th game in charge of York City Knights by watching his team produce a strong performance in the Bootham Crescent sun to beat Workington Town 40-8. A nightmare second half show at the Recreation Ground saw York City Knights surrender an 8-18 half time lead over Whitehaven and suffer their first Betfred league 1 defeat since the opening day of the season.
