Turn Up and Play – TOUCH Rugby League
York City Knights Foundation are delighted to announce the next block of Touch Rugby will start on Tuesday 29th March and continue every Tuesday.
For over a decade, the Knights have been running different forms of touch rugby proving that this toned-down version of conventional rugby league is an exciting sport that appeals to the masses and can be played regardless of experience, ability, gender or age.
The emphasis of the sport is placed on running, agility, and ball handling. Its strength as a sport is how inclusive the game can be. In the past, we have had families take to the pitch, ex-players, current players, and players new to rugby league coming together to play on the same pitch.
Aside the ease of play and its inclusive nature, there are several other benefits of playing touch. The game offers a fun, practical way to stay fit, it also boosts bone and muscle strength and body coordination all in a fun, social atmosphere added with a great way to make new friends.
The game is easy to learn, and easy to play with new participants welcomed.
Sessions are delivered in 8-week blocks, with the first session on Tuesday 29th March, 6:00-7:00pm, at York St John University Sports Park, Haxby road. Participants must aged 16 or above.
Sessions are priced at £3 per session with the option of cash on the night or by paying online.
